Description of Request:
Sarah Mabrey – Music Teacher – Elitch Gardens Band Trip Bus Costs
I am requesting $2000 to pay for a charter bus for the band trip to Elitch Gardens Music Festival. We attend
this festival every year as it is a great opportunity to perform for adjudicators and receive feedback. It is
also a way to celebrate the hard work of the band students. This trip always helps with retention of band
kids for the next year which is also really important. In order to make it worth the money we spend the day
there which requires charter buses. If we take school buses we have to return early, don’t have room for the
instruments and are left there and have no relief if there is bad weather. The band numbers are great this
year, 34 in 7th and 8th, and 33 in 6th. In order to make that work we need two buses which costs $4200. I
am using school funding for half and requesting the other half from PTO.
